As architects, we can only do our best to derive meaning through literature, images, and stories. It was our goal to not assume too much on the part of deep cultural meaning, but rather seek universality in what we know about the Navajo.
Constellations are thought to provide guidance and values and can even provide personal meaning. Stars and constellations tell stories and provide guidance through elders and shamans. Navajo shamans have been known to gaze at the stars through glass or quartz, which we generated into an architectural idea, as if to channel the idea of guidance through architecture.
